Insurance Information
Karen accepts all PPO insurance plans and will file your insurance
for you. Normally these plans pay 50% to 90% after the deductible
is met. She is a provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare, United
Health Care, some Coventry plans, and PHCS, which means people with
these plans will usually only need to pay a co-pay.
However, some United Health Care plans now have deductibles.
If you would like to know your insurance benefits, call the phone
number for customer service on the front or back of your insurance
card. Ask them what your out of network (unless I am a provider
for your plan) benefits are. Find out how much your deductible is
and how much has been met. Then ask what percent of the fee they
cover.
Karen's desire is to work with clients through the life span with usually 6 to 12 sessions at first and then to be available to clients to return for a few sessions whenever they need or desire. Most employers change insurance providers about every two years. This means that if you only use providers on your plan, you would need to change therapists whenever your policy changes. Therapy is a much more intimate service than some other services you receive from doctors and you can save a lot of time in therapy by working with someone who is familiar with you. So consider if you are really saving money by starting with someone new all over again who is on your insurance panel. And remember, if you have a PPO plan, you will have some insurance benefits with Karen's services.
Know that accepting insurance benefits has benefits and pitfalls.
The benefits are reduced costs per session, often from $0 to $45
per session. Then there are the negative aspects. For United Health
Care and Coventry, you must fill out a Wellness Assessment at the
beginning of treatment giving information about your physical and
mental health. For all insurance, you must receive a diagnosis.
This information goes into a database with your insurance provider.
Karen does not have any control over what is done with your diagnosis
by your insurance provider when she files benefits for you. So weigh
the costs and benefits and make an informed decision.
