What is Reiki training, and who can learn it? Anyone can learn Reiki with Karen Harrison at Whole Life Center in Kansas City; all you need is a desire to learn and give to others! In Japan, the name of the Reiki Master level is Shinpiden, which means “Mystery Teaching.” Shinpiden is the mystery of God’s love, wisdom, and power. The Japanese technique of using Reiki to heal the body, mind, and spirit is a ‘hands-on’ technique. Reiki practitioners use touch to bring healing and balance, drawing on universal lifeforce energy. Energy healing techniques such as those you will learn in Reiki training can help you support and defend yourself and others from the negativity and chaos that consumes the world. Using symbols, and other tools, Reiki practitioners learn to guide and enhance this healing energy flow to aid themselves and others. This energy is so powerful that you can give it across distance and time! It takes practice with Reiki training to fully deepen the practice and enhance peace, balance, abundance, and health. Surrendering one’s will to God and receiving the flow of Reiki energy during Reiki training rewards the Reiki Master with enhanced awareness and can lead to unlimited possibilities for personal growth, joy, and peace.

A Reiki Master teaches the Reiki courses. Karen is a Senior Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) and has taught Reiki professionally since 1998. The beginning courses are Reiki I and II, taught over two days. In Reiki I, you will learn what Reiki is, how it heals, the history of Reiki, how to scan your body for blockages in the energy field, how to give yourself a Reiki treatment, how to scan someone else for blockages, and how to give all the standard hand placements. You also receive the empowerment for Reiki I, which is called an Attunement in some schools of Reiki and a Placement in the Reiki school that Karen teaches. There will be time for education, questions and answers, and hands-on practice with another classmate. In Reiki II, you learn the symbols for Reiki. The Power symbol increases the power of Reiki. The Mental/Emotional symbol heals emotions, thoughts, and relationships. The Distant symbol sends Reiki at a distance and can send Reiki back or forward in time.

You receive an empowerment to the Reiki II energy. Then you practice giving a complete Reiki session using an intuitive method of Reiki based on your scanning. Karen will help everyone with scanning so they can feel successful with it. Another fun part of class is learning to see auras and sending Reiki with the eyes. Students are typically thrilled with this exercise! Being able to send Reiki with the eyes is very practical for things like sending Reiki at your child’s soccer game and during meetings. At the end of class, you will learn how to send a distant treatment and will practice it on each other so that you can feel the results. Best of all, on each day, you receive a Reiki treatment and get to take a nap!

To teach Reiki, one must take the Reiki Master course of Reiki training. For someone to learn Reiki, you do not need any specific set of skills – anyone can do it, as long as you are willing to learn and give to others! Once you have received Reiki training and can teach, you can teach others how to give Reiki healing energy to people, pets, and other animals.
